West Brom move to the head of the queue for Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard.

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson has stolen a march on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign Bristol City forward Nicky Maynard, according to The Mirror.

Hodgson has reportedly offered City the choice of either Chris Wood or Simon Cox, with Robins chief Derek McInnes keen on securing a replacement.

Maynard, rated at £1.5m, will leave Bristol in January after refusing to sign a long-term deal and is widely expected to move to the Premier League.

Wolves, meanwhile, hope to sign the striker for under £1m, but are likely to miss out on the player who has scored eight goals in the Championship so far this season.
