Blackpool 1-2 Morecambe

Blackpool crash out of the League Cup at the hands of League Two side Morecambe.

Blackpool have been eliminated from the League Cup with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of League Two side Morecambe this afternoon.

The hosts got off to the worst possible start when they found themselves behind after just six minutes courtesy of a Lewis Alessandra strike.

Ian Holloway's men almost found an equaliser on the half-hour mark, but Matt Phillips saw his shot from 12 yards rebound back off the post.

The Seasiders were two down ten minutes into the second half as Andrew Fleming fired his shot past Matt Gilks in the Blackpool goal.

The home side weren't ready to give up their League Cup hopes just yet, however, and Alex Baptiste got a goal back to give them hope of a comeback. Morecambe held out, however, to clinch a famous victory and progress to the next round.
