Thomas Muller wants Bayern Munich talks

Thomas Muller concedes that he wants reassurance as to whether he is a key player for Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller has revealed that he has asked for discussions regarding his future with the club.

The 24-year-old featured for the Bavarians on regular basis last term, but was often initially among the substitutes or replaced before the final whistle by head coach Pep Guardiola.

Amid reports that Manchester United's new manager Louis van Gaal is keen to recruit him, the German international has conceded that he is in need of reassurance as to how important that he is to the powers that be at the Allianz Arena.

"I have reached the point where I want to know if I am an essential component of the Bayern Munich first XI for the new season and if the club has plans for me over the coming years," he told German magazine Stern.

"That's why I will be out to have a meeting. I am not the type of guy that says, 'All right, I have played a good part and will keep my mouth shut and everyone else is able to do with me whatever he wants'."

Muller joined Bayern as a trainee back in the year 2000.
