Saturday's League One predictions including Charlton vs. Ipswich

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League One fixtures, including Charlton vs. Ipswich.

Barnsley vs. Forest Green (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Barnsley will look to get their League One season back on track with a victory against struggling Forest Green Rovers at Oakwell on Saturday.

Michael Duff's men have slipped down the division and sit five points outside of the playoff places ahead of the game with 22nd-placed Rovers.

We say: Barnsley 2-1 Forest Green Rovers

Despite a poor run of late, Barnsley should still be good enough to get by Forest Green. Their experience should get them through the game, but the visitors will not make it an easy ride.

Bolton vs. Oxford Utd (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Bolton Wanderers will look for a third consecutive League One victory on Saturday against an Oxford United side struggling at the foot of the table.

Playoff-chasing Wanderers occupy fifth place, 12 points ahead of Oxford, who are just one place above the relegation zone.

We say: Bolton Wanderers 2-1 Oxford United

Bolton, with their squad depth, should be able to get past an Oxford team low on confidence. The visitors will not be pushovers, though, and will make Wanderers work hard for their three points.

Charlton vs. Ipswich (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Charlton Athletic will be aiming to keep within touching distance of the playoff places when they host Ipswich Town in League One action on Saturday.

The visitors head into this weekend currently sat second in the table, two points adrift of top spot.

We say: Charlton Athletic 1-3 Ipswich Town

Ipswich's away record speaks for itself coming into this one, and there is a 14-point gap between the sides in the table.

Ultimately, we think the quality from Kieran McKenna's side will shine through.

Cheltenham vs. MK Dons (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Cheltenham Town take on MK Dons at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium in League One on Saturday, in a contest between two sides looking to steer themselves clear of the relegation zone.

The home side are currently 18th in the league standings, while the visitors occupy 21st place.

We say: Cheltenham Town 1-0 MK Dons

Cheltenham Town have been solid at home so far this season, and we expect them to grind out another one-goal victory in this one. Even though MK Dons recorded a good win away at Charlton on Tuesday, it is too early to say whether they will turn around their poor start to the season.

Derby vs. Bristol Rovers (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Rotherham United manager Paul Warne on September 17, 2022© Reuters

Derby County will be looking to end a run of three consecutive games without a win when they host Bristol Rovers at Pride Park this weekend.

The visitors, however, come into this game sitting 14th in the League One table, and they are unbeaten in their last eight in all competitions.

We say: Derby County 1-1 Bristol Rovers

Only one point separates these two sides in the table, so we're anticipating a highly-competitive game at Pride Park.

Given the respective form of both sides coming into this game, we think Rovers will have enough to maintain their unbeaten run here.

Fleetwood vs. Accrington (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman pictured in May 2021© Reuters

Fleetwood Town currently sit four points clear of the relegation zone in 17th in League One, one point ahead of their opponents on Saturday.

Accrington Stanley, meanwhile, are aiming to end a run of four consecutive league defeats when they travel to Highbury this weekend.

We say: Fleetwood Town 1-1 Accrington Stanley

We think this will be a closely-fought contest at Highbury, with both teams low on confidence.

Stanley are conceding plenty of goals lately, however Fleetwood are struggling to find the back of the net, therefore, there is not a lot to split the sides.

Peterborough vs. Cambridge (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Peterborough United host Cambridge United on Saturday, the first time the two teams have contested the Cambridgeshire derby in the league for more than 20 years.

Fourth-placed Posh currently sit nine points above the U's, who find themselves in 16th in their second consecutive season in League One.

We say: Peterborough United 2-0 Cambridge United

A big crowd is expected which should spur the home team on, and they should have too much quality for their local rivals.

Cambridge could have a bit more confidence after their win in the week but have not been playing too well and that should show.

Port Vale vs. Lincoln (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke applauds fans after the match on January 8, 2022© Reuters

Lincoln City will be attempting to take their current five-match unbeaten streak across all competitions going on Saturday when they make the trip to face Port Vale.

The hosts only trail their opponents by two points in the League Two table, and have the chance to breakthrough into the top half with three points at the weekend.

We say: Port Vale 0-2 Lincoln City

Port Vale have been scoring a lot of goals recently, but on Saturday they come up against a strong defensive unit which will create a genuine test.

Both teams have been in better form as of late, but it is Lincoln City who come into this one in the midst of an undefeated streak, which could continue here.

Portsmouth vs. Shrewsbury (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley pictured on May 9, 2021© Reuters

Portsmouth will have the chance to solidify their position in the League One playoff spots on Saturday when they welcome Shrewsbury Town to Fratton Park.

The hosts head into the game on the back of two positive results, meanwhile Salop are without a win in their previous three matches.

We say: Portsmouth 2-0 Shrewsbury Town

This game brings two teams in contrasting form against each other, which is why Portsmouth heads into the game as the clear favourites right now.

The fact that Shrewsbury Town are struggling for goals also does not help their case, and could lead to the hosts picking up a comfortable three points.

Sheff Weds vs. Burton Albion (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore on February 13, 2022© Reuters

Two teams fighting at opposite ends of the League One table will do battle at Hillsborough on Saturday, as Sheffield Wednesday entertain Burton Albion.

The hosts have dropped five points behind the top two as a result of consecutive draws, while their visitors sit 23rd, three points adrift of safety and just one point above basement side Morecambe.

We say: Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Burton Albion

With the quality throughout their squad, Sheffield Wednesday are bound to return to winning ways sooner rather than later, and we see them taking all three points relatively comfortably at home to one of the league's strugglers on Saturday.

Wycombe vs. Morecambe (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Wycombe Wanderers' manager Gareth Ainsworth celebrates after the match on May 8, 2022© Reuters

Wycombe Wanderers will be looking to get back to winning ways as they host Morecambe at Adams Park on Saturday.

Derek Adams's side sit bottom of the League One table after their defeat in midweek to Cheltenham Town and MK Dons picking up a win to move above them.

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 Morecambe

Despite their loss against Cambridge United, Wycombe have shown some good form in recent games and against a struggling Morecambe side, we would expect them to secure the three points.
