Miguel Moya backs Jan Oblak

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Miguel Moya says that fellow stopper Jan Oblak will enjoy "a spectacular future".

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Miguel Moya has backed teammate Jan Oblak to enjoy "a spectacular future".

Both stoppers arrived at the Spanish champions this summer, but Moya has been the first choice in the early part of the campaign.

Oblak has been criticised in various quarters, but Moya has backed the summer signing from Benfica to come good.

"It's obvious that an expensive signing generates excitement and enthusiasm," Moya told reporters.

"I think there were people who following La Liga who knew me. My perception is that people feel the goalkeeper's position is well covered with me, 10 years in the Primera, and Oblak, who has a spectacular future.

"People at home will make their own choice. The only thing I do is try to make it difficult for the coach, so I look competent and competitive."

Moya arrived from Getafe this summer.
