Arsenal are reportedly monitoring 19-year-old Portuguese striker Tiago Tomas, who has caught the eye for Sporting Lisbon.

Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Tiago Tomas.

The 19-year-old, who scored six goals last season, has been tipped by many in Portugal to have a promising career ahead of him.

Last year, less than a fortnight after his 18th birthday, Tomas signed a contract with Sporting until 2025, which included a release clause of €60m (£50m).

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Mikel Arteta is weighing up making a move for the teenager, with Roma also said to be interested in signing him.

The report adds that Sporting are reluctant to sell and will be intent on keeping Tomas in the January transfer window and beyond.

The striker has appeared in both of the club's Champions League group-stage matches so far this season and has been capped five times by Portugal's Under-21s.
