Arsenal considering improved Lukas Podolski bid from Inter Milan

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirms that the club are considering an improved bid from Inter Milan for striker Lukas Podolski.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club are considering an improved offer from Inter Milan for striker Lukas Podolski.

Podolski has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this month, having failed to start a single Premier League match all season.

Wenger initially played down reports of the German international leaving due to Inter tabling a "farcical" opening bid, but he has now revealed that they have come back with an improved offer.

"The first proposal was farcical; after they came back a bit more serious," the Frenchman is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We will see what happens. Inevitable? Not in the transfer market. It's very difficult to say, but we'll see."

Podolski missed the Gunners' 2-0 defeat to Southampton today with a groin injury, and Wenger also revealed that he is a major doubt for Sunday's FA Cup clash with Hull City.

"He has not practised for a few days now, since our last game at West Ham, because of a tight groin. So I don't think he will be available for Sunday," he added.

Podolski, 29, has scored 31 goals in 82 appearances for the club since joining in 2012.
