Tottenham Hotspur full-back Pedro Porro could miss the North London Derby against Arsenal after sustaining a hamstring injury in their 4-0 loss to Newcastle United.

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Pedro Porro has been flagged as a doubt for the upcoming North London derby against Arsenal at the end of the month due to a hamstring problem sustained during their loss against Newcastle United.

Spurs suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at St James' Park on Saturday, which dealt a significant blow to their aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League.

The Magpies surged ahead with two quick goals, courtesy of Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, just before half time. After the break, Isak and Fabian Schar found the net to seal the victory in a dominant display.

Following the defeat, the Lilywhites dropped to fifth place behind Aston Villa in the league standings on goal difference, while Newcastle moved above Manchester United into sixth.

Porro sustains hamstring injury in loss to Newcastle

Spurs were already two goals down when Porro blocked an attempt on goal from Isak, and while the Spaniard successfully deflected the shot for a corner, he subsequently collapsed to the turf in agony, holding his hamstring.

Despite the best efforts of the physio team, Ange Postecoglou promptly substituted the right-back, bringing Emerson Royal on to replace him in the 49th minute.

In his post-match press conference, Postecoglou said: "He just felt something in the first half and wanted to see how it goes in the second half.

"I haven't checked with the medical team yet but we'll see what the issue is."

The severity of Porro's injury will dictate whether he will be available for the upcoming clash against bitter foes Arsenal on April 28.

If the 24-year-old defender is unable to return in time, he will join the likes of Richarlison, Ryan Sessegnon and Fraser Forster on the sidelines.

Discussing the match further, the manager added, "Newcastle were good. We just didn't really get a grip of the game. It felt like we let Newcastle dictate how the game was played.

"There's no point sitting here feeling sorry for ourselves. We've got another game in two weeks. It's all part of our growth and sometimes growth is painful."

Since arriving from Sporting Lisbon, Porro has been a regular presence in the Spurs squad, featuring in 31 matches across all competitions for the Lilywhites this season.
