Luke Shaw eyes points against Arsenal and Chelsea

Southampton left-back Luke Shaw believes that his side's next two matches, against Arsenal and Chelsea, will give them a better idea of where they are as a team.

Southampton full-back Luke Shaw has expressed his belief that his side's next two matches will give them an indication of where they are as a team.

Southampton currently sit third in the Premier League table having made their best-ever start to a season in the top flight, boasting the league's best defensive record and an eight-match unbeaten streak.

The Saints will face back-to-back away matches against league leaders Arsenal and fourth-placed Chelsea following the international break, and Shaw has his sights set on positive results in both games.

"The next two games we have got coming up will show whereabouts we are and whether we can challenge for the top," Shaw told PA.

"If you take points from there, you know you are doing well. It is two of the biggest clubs in the league and hopefully we are going to go there positive to pick up points."

Shaw is currently on international duty with the England Under-21 side, while three of his Southampton teammates, Adam Lallana, Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert are involved with the full England side for their international double header against Chile tonight and Germany on Tuesday.
