Arsenal legend Ray Parlour: 'Gunners' team spirit as strong as the Invincibles'

Ray Parlour says that Arsenal have the requisite team spirit to win the Premier League.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has claimed that the current crop of Gunners boast the type of team spirit that saw the 'Invincibles' win the Premier League title in 2004.

Arsene Wenger's side sit five points adrift of top-of-the-table Manchester City after just six games played, having lost twice already.

The North Londoners were expected to mount a serious title challenge in an effort to end a 12-year wait for English football's biggest prize, after winning a second successive FA Cup last term.

However, Parlour, a member of that legendary 2003-04 squad, says that Arsenal's harmonious atmosphere could yet play a big role in propelling them back to the summit of the domestic game come May.

"I think this is the best dressing room they've had in a long time," he told the Evening Standard. "The best since Arsenal won the title.

"I go and train there sometimes and you can see the difference between the atmosphere now and in the past. They had a period a few years ago when there was a lot of arguing among the players and personality clashes.

"But they've moved past that now and that shows with the trophies they've won. You can't win major trophies if you haven't got a good dressing room."

Wenger's men travel to unbeaten Leicester City on Saturday.
