Cesc Fabregas: Arsene Wenger will turn it around

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas urges Arsenal fans to remain behind manager Arsene Wenger.

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has urged Arsenal fans to remain behind manager Arsene Wenger.

The former Gunners skipper left North London last summer in a £29m deal but has always maintained that the club remain in his heart.

Wenger took charge of Arsenal in 1996 and is the club's longest-serving manager and most successful in terms of trophies won.

The Frenchman has not masterminded a trophy since 2005 but, while some supporters are losing patience, Fabregas remains adamant that Wenger turn things around.

"Arsenal have great players, great fans and a great manager. They'll turn it around. There is no point to keep comparing the team to the Invincibles. That will not get you anywhere," the 24-year-old Spaniard told The Sun.

"Some very important players like Jack Wilshere, Thomas Vermaelen, Bacary Sagna and Abou Diaby have been injured for a long time and so they have to be patient.

"I still have a huge affection for the club and it definitely makes me sad whenever I see them lose. But Arsene Wenger knows the club and players and will turn it around."

Despite being considered as one of Arsenal's most influential players in the Premier League era, Fabregas only won one trophy during his eight-year spell at the club.
