Arsenal equal a club record of six consecutive games without a goal against a single opponent as Liverpool win 2-0 at the Emirates in Wednesday's Premier League clash.

Arsenal have equalled an unwanted scoreless club record with Wednesday's 2-0 Premier League defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's side held out for the first 45 minutes on their own turf and looked bright going forward through Gabriel Martinelli, but Martin Odegaard spurned a magnificent chance to open the scoring in the second period.

Following Odegaard's miss, Arsenal's nemesis Diogo Jota then beat Aaron Ramsdale at his near post to open the scoring before Roberto Firmino's close-range finish completed the job.

Having failed to find the back of the net on Wednesday, Arsenal have now equalled their club record of going scoreless in six successive games versus a single opponent.

The Gunners previously did so against the Reds between 1997 and 2000 before right-back Lauren broke the drought with his first goal for the club in the 2000-01 season.

Arteta's side remain in the top four despite Wednesday's defeat - one point clear of Manchester United with two games in hand.
