Afellay: 'Schalke outplayed Arsenal'

Ibrahim Afellay believes that Schalke 04 'outplayed' Arsenal in their 2-2 Champions League draw on Tuesday night.

Ibrahim Afellay has said that Schalke 04 deserved more than a 2-2 draw from Tuesday's Champions League match against Arsenal.

The Bundesliga side went 2-0 down following goals from Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, before Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Jefferson Farfan levelled the match in the second half.

"We were the better team of the two. Arsenal only threatened on the counter attack. We are not happy with the draw. We could have got more from this game," Afellay told Goal.com.

"We practically gifted Arsenal two goals. The first one in particular was very unfortunate. The 2-1 was important for Klaas-Jan and for us. The positive thing from this game is that we remain first in our group. We still want to be playing in the Champions League after the winter break."

Schalke 04 sit one point ahead of Arsenal at the top of Group B.
