Arsene Wenger confirms injury layoff for Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Arsene Wenger confirms that Arsenal pair Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not play until after the international break due to injuries.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not play again until after the international break next month.

The duo were forced off the pitch inside 20 minutes of the Gunners' 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was struck down after five minutes with a hamstring injury, while his replacement Walcott had to leave the field with a calf problem.

The pair, who may not be available to play until November 21, will miss games against Swansea City, Bayern Munich and North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

"Nothing has changed since after the game," Wenger told the club's official website. "They are out but the scans are today - it's 48 hours afterwards. We hope they are light injuries, but they are out until after the international break."

The players are also likely to miss England friendlies against Spain and France.
