Midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga was ruled out of Arsenal's squad for the game with Leeds United on Saturday after testing positive for coronavirus.

Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has tested positive for coronavirus, ruling him out of Saturday's Premier League fixture at Leeds United.

Lokonga has lost his place in the starting lineup in recent weeks, his last outing from the opening whistle coming on November 27.

However, the Belgian was a notable absentee when Mikel Arteta's named his squad for the meeting at Elland Road.

In the hour before the game, it was revealed that the 22-year-old has tested positive for coronavirus, ruling him out for at least 10 days.

The Gunners are currently scheduled to face Sunderland in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday, but their trip to Norwich City on Boxing Day remains in considerable doubt.

Lokonga is the first senior Arsenal player to test positive this month.
