Australia take pursuit gold from Team England

Australia ease to 4,000m pursuit gold from Team England in the final on Thursday night.

Australia have eased to 4,000m pursuit gold, with Bradley Wiggins and Team England forced to settle for the silver medal.

The Australians flew out of the blocks and raced into a 1.5s lead after just a few laps, but midway through the race England appeared to be closing the gap somewhat.

However, even though Australia went down to three men with a third of the race remaining, they remained solid and started to open up the gap once more.

In the end, even with Wiggins taking charge, England did not have enough and Australia's 3:54.851 was more than five seconds clear.
