AB de Villiers dominates at CSA awards ceremony

AB de Villiers wins five of the nine major awards at the Cricket South Africa awards ceremony following his success with the bat in the last 12 months.

AB de Villiers won five of the nine major awards as the South Africa batsman dominated the evening at the Cricket South Africa (CSA) ceremony.

The 27-year-old became the first player to be named Cricketer of the Year in successive seasons, and he was also awarded ODI Cricketer of the Year, Cricketers' Cricketer of the Year and Supporters' Cricketer of the Year.

De Villiers was also given a special award for scoring the fastest ODI century against the West Indies in Johannesburg earlier this year.

"AB is just so special and must surely be the best all-round cricketer in the world," said CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat. "His performances are sheer class and his rankings, number two in Tests and number one in ODIs, tell only part of an amazing story.

"He has always been an entertainer and a trend-setter while, at the same time, possessing a unique ability to dig really deep when it matters."

Hashim Amla was named Test Cricketer of the Year and Morne van Wyk Twenty20 International Cricketer of the Year.
