Brisbane Heat too strong for Sydney Thunder

The Brisbane Heat keep Sydney Thunder's winless run going in the Big Bash with a five-wicket win, keeping their chances of a semi-final spot alive.

The Brisbane Heat have kept their semi-final hopes alive with a comfortable five-wicket win over the struggling Sydney Thunder.

Chris Lynn was in fine form, scoring 51 off 38 balls to help Brisbane chase down a total of 127 with five wickets in hand.

Sydney are winless in the Big Bash and were unable to turn the tide despite the star names of Chris Gayle and Matt Prior starting the match.

Gayle top scored for the Thunder with 28 from as many deliveries but his knock was ended by an in-form Dan Christian.

Christian ripped through the Thunder attack to record figures of 5-26, reducing Sydney to 127 all out.

Brisbane lost wickets at consistent intervals but were still good enough to chase down the low total.

Lynn's half-century helped the Heat improve their record to 2-3 and keep them in the hunt for a place in the final four.
