Mohammed Hafeez misses out on century

Pakistan opening batsman Mohammed Hafeez falls four runs short of a century just before tea on the first day of the first Test against New Zealand.

Mohammed Hafeez fell just short of a century as Pakistan reached 194-1 at tea on day one of the first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi.

After the openers both survived the morning session, Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad both piled on the runs in the afternoon as the home side look to set a big first innings total.

Hafeez appeared to be heading for a ton, but was caught and bowled by Corey Anderson just four runs short after more than three hours at the crease.

Shehzad made it to the end of the season unscathed, and will resume just 11 short of a century, while Azhar Ali added eight before tea.
