Wayne Madsen signs a new deal with Derbyshire after a stunning season.

Derbyshire captain Wayne Madsen has been awarded a new long-term deal with the club following his superb season.

The 28-year-old led the scoring charts with 885 runs as he helped his side win the LV= County Championship Division Two title.

Madsen, who also claimed a career best total of 231 not out against Northamptonshire, said that he is delighted to extend his stay with his current employers.

"What we achieved last year was incredible and this is a club that's growing and moving in the right direction on and off the field," Madsen said.

"To lead this squad is a great honour, I'm so excited about where we are heading and we're looking forward to challenging ourselves in Division One next season."

Madsen made his debut for the club in 2009.
