Kolkota Knight Riders edge past Perth Scorchers with two balls to spare

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Perth Schorchers by three runs with just two balls remaining in their Twenty20 Champions League match.

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Perth Scorchers by three runs in the Twenty20 Champions League to maintain their 100% record and extend their lead at the top of Group A to eight points.

The visitors batted first and the opening pair of Adam Voges (71) and Craig Simmons (39) both produced superb displays to give Perth Scorchers a scintillating start to their innings.

However, only two other batsmen - Sam Whiteman (21) and Yasir Arafat (10) - made it into double figures, as the hosts recovered to limit them to 151-7 after 20 overs.

The response of the hosts didn't begin too well, with Gautam Gambhir (2) and Jacques Kallis (6) both falling cheaply in the early stages, but they recovered well.

Kolkata kept the run-rate ticking over as the game edged towards a tense finale, and despite losing the wicket of Andre Russell in the final over, Piyush Chawla scored the winning runs with two balls to spare to give the Kolkata side another enthralling victory.
