A toe injury rules Sachin Tendulkar out of India's ODI series against England.

Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out for the remainder of the one-day international series against England with a toe injury.

The 38-year-old was forced to miss the rain-abandoned first one-dayer between the two sides at Chester-le-Street on Saturday and will now visit a surgeon to determine the extent of the injury.

"Sachin Tendulkar is suffering from an inflammation to the bone in his big toe on the right foot," Yadav told ESPNcricnfo.

"In the past he had a fracture to this bone and yesterday, after the training, he felt a little pinch. In the morning he went for a light jog and felt pain.

"Immediately he spoke to Ashish Kaushik, the Indian team physio, and both felt it would be safe to rest him for this match. On Monday Tendulkar will visit a surgeon."

Injuries have also forced Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan and Robhit Sharma to set out the series for India.
