Ben Stokes undergoes wrist surgery

England all-rounder Ben Stokes faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a fractured bone in his wrist.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes could be absent for at least two months after he underwent an operation on a fractured bone in his right wrist.

Stokes suffered the injury when he punched a locker after being dismissed in a T20 international with West Indies earlier this month, which resulted in the 22-year-old being forced to withdraw from England's World Twenty20 squad.

An ECB statement read: "Ben will be reviewed in six weeks and a schedule for his return to full training will be determined following the review."

Stokes had been expected to be one of England's key players in Bangladesh after impressing during his side's disastrous Ashes tour with Australia during the winter.
