Jason Roy rewarded with new Surrey contract

Opening batsman Jason Roy signs a new three-year contract at Surrey, two days before he is scheduled to make his England debut in the T20 match against India.

Jason Roy has been rewarded for his 2014 form with a three-year contract extension at Surrey.

The 24-year-old opening batsman was the leading scorer in this year's T20 Blast competition and has recently been called into the England Twenty20 squad.

Surrey director of cricket Alec Stewart said in a statement: "We are delighted that Jason has signed his new contract and committed his future to the club.

"Jason has had an excellent season in all forms of the game culminating in his deserved call up to the England squad.

"With his continued work ethic and improvement, I would hope to see him playing other formats of the game for England very soon."

Roy could make his first England appearance in the T20 international against India at Edgbaston on Sunday.
