Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie plays down England link

Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie plays down reports that he could replace Peter Moores following England's World Cup exit.

Jason Gillespie has played down suggestions that he could be in line to replace England head coach Peter Moores.

England's exit from the World Cup at the group stage has put Moores under pressure, and reports have claimed that the ECB could look to Yorkshire coach Gillespie if they make a change.

However, the former Australian fast bowler has attempted to distance himself from the job ahead of a new campaign with Yorkshire.

When asked about the link, Gillespie told BBC Radio 5 live: "It's very flattering.

"At some point in the future I have ambition to be an international coach but at this point right now we're about to leave on a pre-season tour with Yorkshire, and my focus is on that."

ECB managing director Paul Downton has moved to defend Moores since England's fate was confirmed with a game to spare in Pool A.
