Jos Buttler urges England to show steel in face of defeat

England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler admits that his side must try to hang around for as long as possible tomorrow as Australia close in on victory in the fifth Ashes Test.

England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler has called on his players to battle hard tomorrow, despite facing defeat in the fifth Ashes Test.

The home side slumped to 203-6 in their second innings, and are still 129 runs short of making Australia bat again.

Buttler told BBC Sport: "We're up against it, but we've just got to keep fighting and hang in there. The captain showed that for most of the day. Everyone's very disappointed to come here and play as we have.

"I've had a tough series, it's been tough mentally when you keep finding ways of getting out, but you've got to keep scrapping. I'm really happy with the way my keeping's gone - I feel there's been a progression.

"It would be great if we could get out of this, and a bit of rain would be great."

England lead the series 3-1.
