Joel Embiid joined an exclusive troupe of NBA players with another mesmerising performance in the Philadelphia 76ers' victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

The 76ers recorded their seventh win from eight games with a 127-113 beating of the Timberwolves, during which Embiid registered a staggering 51 points and 12 rebounds.

In doing so, the 29-year-old became the first NBA player to record at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in 12 successive matches since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who managed the feat in 1972.

Former all-time points scorer Abdul-Jabbar managed to hit 30 points and 10 rebounds in 16 matches on the trot while representing the Milwaukee Bucks, while Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor and Walt Bellamy are the only other players to do so at least 12 times in a row.

Furthermore, Embiid is now one of only two players to score 50 points in multiple games this season alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, but he insisted that his personal achievements are only noteworthy if accompanied by a victory.

"We're winning and that's all that matters. Stats are great and it's great to put up stats. But if it comes with a loss, then that's a different story. If it comes with a win, it means a lot," Embiid told the media after Wednesday's win.

The 76ers sit third in the Eastern Conference thanks to their beating of the Western Conference-topping Timberwolves and are back in action at home to the Toronto Raptors on Saturday.
