Roger Mason Jr has worked out with the Miami Heat in a bid to secure a place on the team's roster ahead of the 2013-14 NBA season.

The 33-year-old shooting guard has been a free agent since his deal with the New Orleans Pelicans expired earlier this year.

Heat already have 13 players on guaranteed contracts for the coming campaign and have invited 18 players to their training camp that starts next week.

Mason averaged 5.3 points per game last season.
