Allyson Felix produced a memorable performance to claim gold in the women's 400m final at the World Athletics Championships this afternoon.

The American was the favourite going into the race and went flying out of the blocks, overtaking Great Britain's Christine Ohuruogu on her outside within the opening 100m.
No-one was able to get close to Felix, who crossed the line in a personal best and world-leading time of 49.26s to claim her maiden solo 400m gold and her ninth world title overall in style.
Defending champion Ohuruogu, bidding for a third world title over the distance, tried to respond to Felix's quick start, but tired on the final straight and ended up finishing in last place with a time of 50.63s.
All of the top four produced personal-best times, but it was Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas and Jamaica's Shericka Jackson who made up the podium with silver and bronze respectively.
