Great Britain's Tom Farrell qualifies for 5,000m final in Beijing

Tom Farrell is the first of potentially two Britons - along with Mo Farah - to qualify for the men's 5,000m final in Beijing after finishing fourth in his heat.

Great Britain runner Tom Farrell has qualified for the 5,000m final at the World Athletics Championship in China after finishing fourth in his heat this morning.

The 24-year-old Briton came in at a time of 13:45.29 to advance into Saturday's showpiece in Beijing.

He is expected to be joined in the final by compatriot Mo Farah, who will be looking to retain his 5,000m world title.

Farah has already reclaimed his 10,000m crown earlier this week. His heat takes place later this morning.

Ethiopia's Hagos Gebrhiwet won the heat in a time of 13:45.00, ahead of American Ben True (13:45.09) and Edwin Cheruiyot Soi of Kenya (13:45.28).
