WADA won't appeal Tyson Gay's one-year ban for doping

WADA confirm that they will not appeal Tyson Gay's one-year ban for doping.

The World Anti-Doping Agency have confirmed that they will not appeal Tyson Gay's one-year ban for doping.

The American athlete was suspended after testing positive for an exogenous androgenic anabolic steroid in July 2012.

According to BBC Sport, WADA have confirmed that the ban is "compatible with the World Anti-Doping Code" after the punishment was criticised for being too lenient.

The ban was backdated to June 23, 2013 because Gay had not competed since being informed of the positive test before the World Championships in Russia last year.
