Nesta Carter denied permission to replace Kemar Bailey-Cole

The IAAF denies Jamaican sprinter Nesta Carter the chance to replace Kemar Bailey-Cole in the 100m at the World Athletics Championships.

The IAAF has ruled that Jamaica are unable to replace the injured Kemar Bailey-Cole with compatriot Nesta Carter at the World Athletics Championships.

Earlier this month, Bailey-Cole was forced to withdraw from the event with a torn hamstring, leaving Jamaica with three representatives - Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell and Nickel Ashmeade - in the 100m.

Garth Gayle, general secretary of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association, had hoped to draft in Carter, who won bronze in Moscow in 2013.

So far his efforts have been knocked back, but Gayle has insisted that he will continue to work on Carter's potential participation ahead of the heats on Saturday morning.
