Margaret Adeoye: 'There's a lot for me to learn'

Margaret Adeoye admits that she still has a lot to learn following her progression through to the 400m semi-finals.

England's Margaret Adeoye has admitted that she still has a lot to learn in her new event.

The 29-year-old is an established 200m runner, but took to the 400m event with relative ease to book a semi-final spot at the Commonwealth Games.

Adeoye made a slow start to her heat, but soon recovered well to finish in second place with a time of 53.98s.

"I'm still fairly new to the 400m so even in the warm-up I don't know whether I should just warm up like a sprinter like I usually do or should I take things slower," she told reporters at Hampden Park.

"I'm still working on my warm-up let alone my race and I'm also wondering whether I come out the blocks like a sprinter and pray I get to the finish line.

"There is so much to learn and it will probably take a couple of years but I'm hoping things will speed up and I'll get used to it quicker."

Team England's Kelly Massey and Shana Cox also progressed through to tomorrow's semi-final.
