Knee sprain ends Mario Manningham's season

Mario Manningham will miss the NFL playoffs after tearing knee ligaments in the San Francisco 49ers' game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

The San Francisco 49ers have confirmed that Mario Manningham will miss the rest of the season after sustaining a serious knee sprain in Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The wide receiver has torn his posterior and anterior cruciate ligaments.

The 26-year-old will miss the 49ers' final regular season game against the Arizona Cardinals and the playoffs.

Manningham was part of the New York Giants' Super Bowl-winning team last season.

He is the third San Francisco player to sustain a season-ending injury in the last month, joining Kendall Hunter and Kyle Williams.
