Good morning and welcome to the live commentary of the NFL clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid returns to his old club for the first time since being let go by the Eagles in January after 14 years with the club, which included one Super Bowl appearance in the 2004 season, when they were defeated by the New England Patriots.

The Chiefs are currently 2-0 to start their season following wins over the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Dallas Cowboys. Quarterback Alex Smith has been handed a new lease of life since Reid traded a second-round pick for his services from the San Francisco 49ers.

Philadelphia are also experiencing a new life of their own under new coach Chip Kelly and his fast-paced offense. The Eagles have racked up the offensive plays since his arrival from college side, the Oregon Ducks, and quarterback Michael Vick and running back LeSean McCoy appear thriving in this new system.

However, for its benefits, Kelly's system did not help the Eagles in their home opener against the San Diego Chargers as they fell to 33-30 defeat as Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers diced up their defense. It's all well and good having a potent offense but if the defense can't hold up their end of the bargain they could be on a hiding to nothing.

Talking of defenses, the Eagles are playing a pretty stout one tonight. Led by outstanding linebackers Tamba Hali and Justin Houston, the Chiefs defense is one of the most talented in the game. Cornerbacks Brandon Flowers and Sean Smith can match with any receiver in the league, while safety Eric Berry is as good against the run as he is the pass making him a dynamo across the field.

The running backs on show tonight should provide plenty of entertainment as they are two of the best in the game. LeSean McCoy rushed for 150 yards in his side's season-opening win against the Washington Redskins to return to his form of the 2011 season. Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles looks as a good as ever and on pace for another 1,000 yard season, while also building a rapport with Alex Smith in the passing game. That's what makes these two backs so dangerous, they can take any play for a touchdown with their explosive speed and elusiveness.

EAGLES INACTIVES: Barkley, Carmichael, Poyer, Tobin, Kelly, Square and Igwenagu

CHIEFS INACTIVES: Bray, Fasano, Howard, Johnson, Kelce, Kush, Martin.

No real surprises among the inactives from either side. One player who has played this season for the Eagles is cornerback Jordan Poyer but he has fallen down the depth chart for this game.

One noticeable player that has been activated for this game for the Eagles is defensive end Vinny Curry. The 25-year-old was drafted in the second round by the Eagles last season and didn't make the impact that some thought he would.

Alex Henery will get us underway as Alex Smith will start with the ball.

What a start for the Chiefs as kick returner Quentin Demps takes his side to the Philadelphia 48.

It's a three and out to start with for Smith and co. On first he throws an incompletion to Dwayne Bowe and can only get three yards on a run on second before throwing another incompletion to Dexter McCluster on third.

FUMBLE EAGLES!

Oh boy! Damaris Johnson fumbles the punt from Dustin Colquitt on his own eight-yard line and the Chiefs gather. Smith will start first and goal at the eight.

SACK! The Chiefs can't get a touchdown as safety Nate Allen comes up with a big sack on Smith as he looked to scramble to force a field goal attempt on fourth down.

FIELD GOAL CHIEFS!

Ryan Succop knocks the ball through the posts from 33 yards out and hands his side the lead. Chiefs 3-0 Eagles.

Michael Vick will get the ball for the first time at the Eagles 21.

Vick picks up the first down following a decent run from McCoy on first down with an eight-yard pass to DeSean Jackson, who gets the ball in space and picks up the yardage. The Eagles beginning to move.

TOUCHDOWN CHIEFS!

Vick tries to find Jackson again but his pass is tipped by Derrick Johnson into the hands of Berry, who intercepts the ball and runs it back for a touchdown for the Chiefs, with a 38-yard return.

Vick and co will begin again at the 20. They will be hoping for a much better result than the last time they took the field.

The Eagles get a first down as Vick fires a short completion to his tight end Zach Ertz after a good run for seven from McCoy on second down. Kelly's side don't look in rhythm at the minute.

Kelly's side go no further down the field as Vick is sacked on first down following pressure up the middle from monster defensive tackle Dontari Poe. On third he looks for receiver Riley Cooper on a corner route, but can't come down with the ball under pressure.

A punt from Donnie Jones lands at the 29 but bounces back to the Chiefs' 33 where Smith will begin.

The Chiefs pick up their first down of the game as Smith fires a short completion to his tight end McGrath and Charles picks up the rest on the ground with a run to the right.

The drive comes to an end as Charles can't pick up a yard on third down as he is stacked up by the Philadelphia defense. Reid doesn't look happy with his running back on the sideline.

WHAT A PLAY! Vick runs 61 yards on his own as he fakes the hand off to Bryce Brown and evades the tackle of Poe. He the races past Berry before the defensive back catches up to him an brings him down on the Chiefs' 26.

TOUCHDOWN EAGLES!

The Eagles are on the board as Vick fires a strike off his back foot to Avant in the endzone on a corner route for a 22-yard touchdown. The throw was perfect from Vick and the receiver made and excellent low catch. The Eagles went for two with a direct snap to Ertz but he wasn't able to come up with the score.

Smith and the Chiefs pick up a huge conversion on third down and 15 as the quarterback finds Avery on a screen pass and he does well to evade tackles to pick up the first down.

The Chiefs continue to struggle on offense as Smith can't find an open receiver and is forced to take off with his feet twice but he can't pick up the first down yardage forcing another punt.

Vick and his side get right to work and he picks up a huge chunk of yardage again with his feet as he avoids another sack and gains 24 yards to the Eagles' 49.

FUMBLE EAGLES!

Another turnover by the Eagles, this time centre Jason Kelce mishandles the snap and the Chiefs dive on it and recover the ball. That's the third turnover of the quarter.

Charles gets the ball and immediately drives his team forward with a 13-yard carry. Can the Chiefs finally make these turnovers count?

END OF FIRST QUARTER: Kansas City Chiefs 10-6 Philadelphia Eagles

The Chiefs still can't pick up a first down as Smith again can't find an open man and again is forced to run for his life from the Eagles' pass rush. He picks up seven to put his side in field goal range.

FIELD GOAL NO GOOD!

Succop misses wide right for 51 yards and the Chiefs fail to add to their score. The Eagles will begin at their 41.

The Eagles go three and out as the Chiefs make a great defensive stand as Hali comes up with a crucial sack on third down to kill the drive. He beat left tackle Jason Peters with a great move to bring down Vick.

A huge moment in the game as Smith finally finds an open receiver on third down as he hits Avery on a crossing route and he takes the ball in stride for a 51-yard pickup to the Eagles' 26.

Another big defensive stand by the Eagles stops the Chiefs finding the endzone as Smith's pass for Corey Hall falls incomplete on shake route over the middle as he was well covered by Chung. The Chiefs will try a field goal from 31 yards.

FIELD GOAL CHIEFS!

Succop drills the 31-yard effort through the posts to extend his side's lead.

McCoy gets the first down for the Eagles with two five-yard runs through the middle of the Chiefs defense. He has nine carries for 46 yards now.

Another first down for the Eagles as Vick finds Avant on a curl route, the receiver stops just short of the marker turns and drives through a tackle from Kendrick Lewis to pick up the yardage.

INTERCEPTION CHIEFS!

Vick throws another interception as he looks to find Cooper on a deep post route but Smith jumps the route and catches the ball and takes it to his side's 40. The Chiefs defense is good, but can the offense cash in on this turnover, the fourth of the game.

A huge completion on third down again by Smith and Avery with an identical play to the one in the first quarter as the receiver comes short again and he moves round the outside of blocks from his teammates to pick up 26 yards.

Charles's turn to pick up yardage as Smith finds him in the flat with a short throw and he evades a tackle from Kendricks to gain 21 yards and another first down.

The Eagles make yet another goalline stand against the Chiefs as they force them into a field goal attempt and it almost got better for the Eagles when Smith threw right into the path of Barwin but he couldn't make the interception.

FIELD GOAL CHIEFS!

Succop nails a kick from 34 yards through the post to move his side's lead to 10 points. Chiefs 16-6 Eagles.

DISASTER FOR THE EAGLES! McCoy picks up 16 yards on the ground and the first down but takes a hit and it looks to be in some pain holding his leg. If he goes out that would be horrendous for the Eagles.

McCoy is walking off under his own steam but he heads to the locker room.

Vick takes a huge sack on first down, which sets the Eagles back seven yards as Houston beats right tackle Johnson on the inside and brings the quarterback down.

SACK! Another sack for the Chiefs and another for Houston as Vick tumbles under pressure from Hali on his left and Houston takes the credit by tapping him down. Jones punts to the Chiefs' 31.

Charles picks up yardage to move his side into the Philadelphia side of the field and Avery picks up another six, however, the Chiefs don't have any timeouts and the clock is moving.

Smith picks up another three yards with his feet but is then forced to spike the ball to kill the clock. That will force them into a Hail Mary.

Smith does well to avoid the rush and throws to the endzone but his throw is batted down by Allen to end the half.

HALF-TIME: Kansas City Chiefs 16-6 Philadelphia Eagles

It's half time at Lincoln Financial Field and the visitors are leading by 10 points thanks to a number of turnovers from Kelly's side. Vick has thrown two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, while there have also been two fumbles.

Kelly will not be pleased with his side but he maybe more concerned about the injury picked up by running back McCoy at the end of the half. He didn't look comfortable leaving the field and was forced to go to the locker room. That could be disastrous for the Eagles and their playoff hopes.

Reid will be delighted with the Chiefs defensive display bar two big runs from Vick, but apart from that they have been all over the quarterback. Offensively he will be worried that his side haven't been able to convert the turnovers into touchdowns as the Chiefs should be far further ahead than their 10 point lead suggests.

Vick and co will start on the 20 after Succops is fielded by Johnson.

Vick does well to recover after a disastrous first down for the Eagles as he fumbles the snap and sets them back 10 yards. On second he drops back and avoids the rush and finds Avant deep in field for 21 yards.

The Eagles drive will end after Vick throws an incompletion on third and 11, which the Chiefs believed they had intercepted but the catch from Eric Berry had hit the floor before it had reached him. Jones punts to McCluster, who takes the ball to the 14.

Charles does well under pressure to pick up the first down as Smith finds him in the flat again. He picks up nine yards to move the chains.

The Chiefs can't go any further than their 34-yard line as Charles is stopped on third and one again by the Eagles defense. That's good stuff through the middle of the defense from Kelly's side. Colquitt's punt is collected by Johnson at the 19 and he takes it to the 25.

McCoy is back on the field and he is showing no effects from his leg injury as he races through the middle of the Chiefs defense for 30 yards to the Kansas 45.

Vick finds his rhythm as he throws back-to-back strikes to Jackson on a comeback route and then Cooper on an out route to move his side to the Chiefs 19. The Eagles are in the redzone for first time tonight.

Huge break for the Eagles on third down as Vick throws another interception to Lewis but the play is called back for an illegal contact penalty on Berry for a foul on Celek.

Vick throws two straight incompletions after McCoy ran for seven yards on first down, to force the Eagles to attempt a field goal. Perhaps they should have ran McCoy again there after his big gain on first.

FIELD GOAL EAGLES!

Henery blasts the ball through the posts for a 29-yard field goal. To bring the Eagles within a touchdown and an extra point within the Chiefs. Chiefs 16-9 Eagles.

The Chiefs catch a break as Henery brings down Demps by the collar on his kick return, which adds on 15 yards to his return, which was originally at the 30.

What an awful series by the Chiefs as they go three and out. Smith is sacked on first down by Curry and on second by Cole. On third he tries to find his tight end Brock but he drops the ball but it wouldn't have mattered anyway as Asamoah was caught for holding. Terrible drive by the Chiefs.

Vick is starting to find his rhythm now as he throws a deep strike over Chiefs cornerback Flowers to Jackson for 40 yards, who catches the ball in stride and goes out of bounds at the Chiefs' 28.

The Eagles can't make the Chiefs pay for their bad drive as McCoy gets stuffed on back-to-back runs on first and second down. Vick throws on third but it's incomplete. Henery will come out and attempt a field goal.

FIELD GOAL NO GOOD!

Henery misses from 48 yards and he hooks his kick to the right. The Chiefs will take over from their 38.

Smith and the Chiefs get out of jail on second down this time as Avery picks up another first down and them some on a short crossing route but again he beats sloppy tacking to reach the yardage.

Smith helps his side recover from a hold from Fisher to put his side in a makeable distance on third down going into the fourth quarter. It will be third and four, when we resume.

END OF THIRD QUARTER: Kansas City Chiefs 16-9 Philadelphia Eagles

The Chiefs pick up a crucial first down pick up as Smith finds an open McGrath for nine yards to move the the Eagles' 28. A big drive this for both teams.

What a run by Charles as he rips off 20 yards to get his side to the Philadelphia three-yard line. He slipped in a gap between left tackle and left guard, following a great block from Albert and he moved swiftly to beat a tackle before going out of bounds.

TOUCHDOWN CHIEFS!

The Chiefs extend their lead as Charles goes over from three yards with a great run to the outside. The play was designed to go through the middle but it was closed off by the Eagles, so the running back ran round to his right with the angle closing to nip in for the score. Succop adds the extra point. Chiefs 23-9 Eagles.

Vick uses his feet to get out of trouble again as Hali closes in behind him but he hears the feet pounding and finds space in the open to pick up 14 yards for the first down. McCoy had a play brought back on first down, which looked to be going all the way due to a false start from Peters.

Avant reels in a special catch from Vick to pick up a first down and 20 yards to move his side into Chiefs territory. That could be a crucial grab that, as he tipped the ball to himself and dove to bring it in.

TOUCHDOWN EAGLES!

McCoy surges right through the Chiefs defensive line and runs all the way into the endzone for a score with a blistering 41-yard run to bring the Eagles right back into this game. Henery kicks the extra point. Chiefs 23-16 Eagles.

McCluster fumbles the kick return but he gathers only to be brought down at his own three-yard line.

A huge pickup by the Chiefs and it's that man Avery again as Smith is backed up in his own endzone following a sack on second, but he throws a 15-yard strike to find his receiver. A huge pickup.

Charles keeps the chains moving with a five-yard pickup but he takes an absolute hammering from Hendricks with a hit to the head. He walks off the field in pain.

Smith completes a short pass to his full back Anthony Sherman, who picks up another 10 yards to keep the chains moving and the clock ticking.

A timeout from the Chiefs at a crucial point in the game on third and two. A first down here would be very close to ending the game and force the Eagles hand in taking their own timeouts.

The Chiefs get it as Smith throws a hitch route to Bowe, who catches the ball with ease over the first down marker and immediately gets down.

Charles is back on the field and don't the Eagles know it as he burns them for a 17-yard gain to pick up a first down and burn some more time on the clock.

Philadelphia use their first timeout as running back Davis is stopped for a gain of only a yard. Another big third down coming up for both sides on the Eagles' 21, it will be third and five.

The Eagles make the stand as Smith throws the ball off the hands of AJ Jenkins, which will force them into a 38-yard field goal attempt. A lot is resting on this!

FIELD GOAL CHIEFS!

Succop nails the kick down the middle of the posts to give his side a 10-point advantage, which will require the Eagles to score twice.

Vick and co will begin on the 20 after Succop's kick is fielded in the endzone.

The Eagles move the chains as Vick fires a strike to Celek over the middle for 16 yards. Can the Eagles score twice here?

A massive penalty on the Eagles eliminates a first down pickup from Vick as he found Celek down the right-hand sideline. That is huge and could cost the Eagles the game.

The Eagles go for it on fourth down needing two scores to get back into the game and Vick throws incomplete for Avant as Demps nearly picks the ball off. That should be game over.

The Chiefs really want to stick the knife in here by scoring again and Charles rips off 14 yards to drive them close to the endzone again.

The two minute warning is here and the Chiefs are encamped in Eagles territory. Reid's side have the option of going for it here to ensure the game is really over or to kick a field goal.

They go for it and they don't pick it up so the Eagles offense will get the ball once again. Let's hope they don't regret that!

Oh dear! Matters may have got worse for the Eagles as Houston sacks Vick for his fourth and a half sack of the night, but Vick stays on the ground and clutches his knee and limps off the field. How to make a bad night worse!

FUMBLE EAGLES!

Not only is that a sack it's also a fumble and the Chiefs recovered the ball. That will end the game as Smith will take a few knees to kill the clock.

FULL-TIME: Kansas City Chiefs 26-16 Philadelphia Eagles

That's it the Chiefs have done and improve to 3-0 in their season. This win will mean a huge amount to Andy Reid against his old club proving a point from his view. His defense were just too much for the Eagles offensive line and Vick as the Eagles turned the ball over too many times to compete.

Reid's players show their happiness by dousing him with the drinks cooler. He didn't look overly thrilled with that as there is still a lot more work to do from his point of view this season. It's very possible they could challenge for the playoffs after going 2-14 in the last campaign.

For the Eagles, this brings them back down to earth following their good start to the season. They still look a 4-12 team that finished last season and Chip Kelly now has a lot of work to do to get them back on track. They go to the Denver Broncos next week and have the distinct possibility of being 1-3 after four games. Worrying times!

Thanks for joining our commentary this morning. We'll be back with all the NFL action on Sunday, until then, goodbye.
