Dallas Cowboys running back Lance Dunbar could miss the rest of the NFL season as he undergoes knee surgery.

Dallas Cowboys running back Lance Dunbar could miss the rest of the season as he prepares to undergo knee surgery for an injury picked up during his side's 31-24 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Dunbar was pivotal in Thursday's outcome as he notched a career-best 82 rushing yards, which included 12 carries for his side. The running back also produced a timely 45-yard run to help set up a touchdown.

The team's official website announced on Friday that Dunbar would undergo an operation to repair a posterior lateral corner.

It is thought that the Cowboys may now look to using a rotation of either Joseph Randle or Phillip Tanner with DeMarco Murray during Dunbar's absence.
