Adrian Peterson: 'I'm still the best running back in the NFL'

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson insists that he is still the best running back in the NFL despite missing the majority of the 2015 season.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has claimed that he is still the best running back in the NFL.

The 30-year-old missed all but one game of the 2014 season after he was suspended by the NFL when he filed a no contest plea of causing reckless or negligent injury to his four-year-old son, but was later reinstated by the league after US District Court Judge David Doty overturned the decision.

When asked if he had lost the title of the best running back in the game as a result of his time out of the game, Peterson told reporters: "Come on now. No."

Peterson was still voted in the top 100 of NFL Network's best players in the league by his colleagues, and he feels that speak volumes about his status in the game.

"There's not too many players in general that miss a season and his peers vote him into the top 100," Peterson added.

"You tell me if [LeSean] McCoy and other running backs [would] miss a season and you tell me if they would still be voted into the top 100?"

Peterson has rushed for 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns in his eight-year NFL career.
