Report: Miami Dolphins sign Branden Albert and Earl Mitchell

The Miami Dolphins bring in former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Branden Albert and former Houston Texans defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, according to reports.

The Miami Dolphins have signed former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Branden Albert and former Houston Texans defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, according to reports.

Albert was widely regarded as the best left tackle available in free agency, and the Dolphins have moved quickly to secure his signature having allowed a franchise-worst 58 sacks last season.

The 29-year-old, who was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2013, has agreed a five-year deal with the team worth a reported $46m (£27.7m), $25m (£15m) of which is guaranteed.

The former first-round Draft pick will be used as part of a rebuilding process for the Dolphins' offensive line, which is expected to lose Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Jonathan Martin during the off-season.

Mitchell, meanwhile, has signed a four-year contract worth a reported $16m (£9.6m) including $9m (£5.4m) guaranteed having seen his four-year spell with the Houston Texans come to an end.

The 26-year-old became a starter last season following the departure of Shaun Cody and went on to lead all nose tackles with 48 tackles over the campaign.
