Former Chicago Bears defensive end Israel Idonije signs a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions.

Israel Idonije has signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions.

The defensive end had been a free agent after coming to the end of his contract with the Chicago Bears, where he had played since 2004.

The Bears had offered the 32-year-old a new contract, but were unwilling to meet his salary demands.

Idonije made 7.5 sacks for the Bears in 2012.
