Tony Romo will not be too heavily involved with Dalls Cowboys' play creation, according to the club.

The Dallas Cowboys have played down claims that quarterback Tony Romo will be heavily involved with the team's game planning in the 2014 season.

Romo has been tipped to have a big say this season following Jerry Jones's comments this week, but Cowboys head coach has responded that Romo will have a similar influence to veteran QBs throughout the NFL.

"It's really been similar to every quarterback situation that I've been involved in with every team that I've been involved in," Garrett told the franchise's website.

"In every place in this organisation and in others, you're trying to get that kind of rapport between your starting quarterback and the coaching staff, and we've had it, and we'll continue to have that.

"He's been our starting quarterback for six years now, so his voice matters to us. However, it's mattered for a long time."

Romo insisted last month that the Cowboys should be looking to win the Super Bowl next season.
