Ray Lewis "disappointed" with Ray Rice

Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis admits that he is deeply disappointed in ex-teammate Ray Rice as evidence emerges of him violently striking his wife.

Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has revealed that he is disappointed in Ray Rice as video evidence emerged highlighting the violence of his attack on his wife.

The 27-year-old was released by the Ravens earlier today and has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL as a video showed Rice punching his wife Janay Palmer in an Atlantic City hotel.

Lewis, who played with Rice for five years at the club, has admitted that he is devastated to see Rice behave in such a manner.

"I'm disappointed. This is personal for me so I'm torn because this is a guy, a young man, that I really took under my wing and tried to mentor," Lewis told ESPN.

Rice played for the Ravens for six years after being selected in the second round of the 2008 Draft by the club.
