Freestyle skier Joss Christensen has dedicated today's gold medal triumph to his father, who passed away last year.

The 22-year-old led a USA clean sweep in the skiing slopestyle event, with Gus Kenworthy and Nicholas Goepper taking silver and bronze respectively.

Following the victory, Christensen paid an emotional tribute to his late dad.

"I wish he was here and I hope he is smiling down on me," the gold medallist is quoted as saying by CNN. "I hope I made him proud. I did it for him."

Christensen was making his Games debut in Sochi, racking up a score of 95.80 and 93.80 in the final to seal victory in fashion.
