Lindsey Vonn wins 61st World Cup downhill to close in on record

American alpine skier Lindsey Vonn claims her 61st World Cup downhill triumph to close in on Annemarie Moser-Proll's all-time record.

Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn has continued her triumphant return to skiing by securing a 61st World Cup downhill success over the weekend.

The 30-year-old, who is in a relationship with golfer Tiger Woods, is just four races into her comeback after spending a year out as a result of two major knee operations.

However, the American is now on the brink of World Cup history after clinching a second-straight win on Saturday, which follows on the back of another memorable victory earlier this month.

Annemarie Moser-Proll still leads the way for all-time wins, although Vonn can move level with the Austrian's record of 62 if she is successful in her next outing.
