David Murdoch: "This is the opportunity of a lifetime"

Team GB curling skip David Murdoch admits that the final against Canada in Sochi on Friday will likely be his only chance to win a Winter Olympic gold medal.

Team GB men's curling captain David Murdoch is determined to make the most of what he admits may be his only chance to compete for a Winter Olympic title.

The Scotsman, 35, will lead the British team in the final of the Sochi Games, where they will face competition favourites Canada on Friday afternoon.

Murdoch kept his nerve in a tie-break to see his side narrowly over the line against Sweden in the semi-finals, and he is hoping that a repeat of that concentration and accuracy will be enough for a gold medal.

He told reporters: "I know this is the opportunity of a lifetime you probably only get one chance to win an Olympic gold and we want to make sure we give everything we can to do it.

"It's not a given, we will have to do everything that we've done in the last few games to really focus and be precise."

Murdoch and company reaching the final means that Britain are guaranteed to match their best Winter Olympic medal haul of all time.
