Lord Coe: 'I was confident of Team GB success'

The chairman of the British Olympic Association, Lord Coe, says he knew that Team GB would have a successful 2014 Sochi Games campaign.

British Olympic Association chairman Lord Coe has said that he was "always quietly confident" that Team GB would be successful at the ongoing 2014 Winter Olympics.

Great Britain have won three medals so far in Sochi and are guaranteed a fourth when the men's curling team take on their Canadian counterparts in the final on Friday.

"I was always quietly confident, simply because of the quality of the delegation, the quality of the thinking, the forensic eye for detail, the work that the British Olympic Association and UK Sport have both conducted together in harness, and the extraordinary work of the coaches," the 57-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"So when you've got really, really talented people, the chances are that things will go better than they will go badly for you."

Lord Coe won four Olympic medals during his career as a track and a field athlete.
