Mike Hay tips Eve Muirhead to lead Great Britain in 2018

Team GB chef de mission Mike Hay says he is sure that Eve Muirhead will be part of the curling side which compete at the Pyeonchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Team GB chef de mission Mike Hay has stated that he expects bronze medal-winning skip Eve Muirhead to still be part of the team for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeonchang.

Muirhead led her side to third place with a win over Switzerland on Thursday, defeating them 6-5 by scoring a single in the final end.

Hay has praised the performance of Muirhead, but also admitted that third place won't satisfy her in the long term.

He told BBC Sport: "This was a superb achievement. I know they came here looking for the gold but taking away an Olympic medal is a great platform for them.

"Eve didn't get the colour she was looking for but she'll be around in Pyeonchang to fight again, I'm sure about that.

"We've really been pushing to raise our standards and hopefully be a credible winter sport team coming to a Games. Hopefully we managed to prove that."

Team GB take on Canada in the men's Olympic final on Friday.
