Mike Hay: 'Jon Eley deserves to be Team GB flagbearer'

Team GB's Chef de Mission Mike Hay believes that Jon Eley deserves to be his country's flagbearer at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The short track speed skater will lead a 56-member British team in the opening ceremony, which will be held on Friday.

"Jon is widely respected by his teammates across Team GB and he is certainly deserving of this tremendous honour," BBC Sport quotes Eley as saying.

The 29-year-old is participating in his third Olympics.
