Lindsey Vonn returns after injury misery

Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn has said that she is taking it slow as she makes her long-awaited return after almost two years out injured.

American Vonn, who missed the Sochi Olympics after a string of knee injuries in 2013, is aiming to be back for World Cup action in Canada in December.

Vonn told reporters: "I've been working on technique, nothing fast, just taking it slow, doing a couple of draws and gates. "I'm not focused on the overall this season, I'm just focused on trying to win races and trying to get back on the podium.

"Obviously I can do well in the World Championships. I try to not push pressure on myself, I'm taking it slower than last year, hopefully, I'll be able to be on the podium again."

The 29-year-old won four World Cup titles between 2008 and 2012 before her injury.
