Jon Jones issues apology after arrest

UFC star Jon Jones has apologised for letting people down following his recent arrest on hit-and-run charges.

The 27-year-old was arrested earlier this week having allegedly fled the scene following a car crash that left a pregnant woman injured.

As a result, the light-heavyweight, who is widely regarded as one of the all-time greats of the sport, was stripped of his world title and suspended indefinitely.

"Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I've let down," read a tweet from the former MMA pound-for-pound king.

Jones has also been ruled out of headlining UFC 187 on May 23, with Anthony Johnson and Daniel Cormier instead doing battle for the vacant light-heavyweight title.
