Great Britain's Andy Murray has taken another step towards defending his Olympic title by beating Kei Nishikori to book a place in the Rio 2016 final.
The 29-year-old, who crashed out of the doubles event with partner Heather Watson on Saturday, produced his most convincing display yet to see off his Japanese opponent 6-1 6-4.
On a two-thirds full Centre Court, the 29-year-old claimed 28 of the 42 points contested in the first set and took both break chances with relative ease to put himself on course for a final meeting with Juan Martin del Potro or Rafael Nadal.
Murray did look a little aggrieved when being given a time violation in the fifth game, but it did not faze him too much as he continued with his consistently solid game, breaking Nishikori once in the second set to seal victory.
A tame drop-shot from the baseline proved Nishikori's undoing in the pivotal fifth game, with Murray taking his third match point when it arrived to keep his dreams alive of a double gold on the Olympic stage.
